Project overview

  • For my Honours project, I chose to design a bright, vibrant and optimised open world puzzle game using UE4. In this role I concepted and scripted puzzles, events and mechanics to work around core themes and strategically placed puzzles, architecture and research inspired narrative to form a well-balanced, polished and enjoyable gameplay loop, as well as developing key documentation such as GDDs, testing sheets, scheduling and research journals.

  • For the environmental design, I focused on purposeful visual aesthetic; based around colour theory/ blending, terrains and verticality, to produce level sectioning through distinct subsections to guide players. To achieve this, I used UE4’s landscape and painting editor tools, a blend of lighting types and tools such as Maya and Substance Painter; requiring an artistic eye, passion and adaptability. The project is planned to be used by Futureworks as promotional material.
